A Whole Year? Really?

It has been nearly a year since my last post, eek!  Life has gotten so busy and continues to do so, but I'm enjoying every minute.  In recent months, I've become involved with a group that is preparing to release an iphone application that is truly one-of-a-kind and stands poised to change the way some of us handle certain situations.  I've been asked to manage the use of various social media platforms to help spread the word and hopefully increase sales once the application is released.  Stay tuned for more updates on that!

I've also started utilizing Twitter to learn more about the whole phenomenon.  All I can say is WOW!  I thought Facebook was amazing, but Twitter really is the fastest way to get information out in front of so many people.  Very cool.

That's all for now, be on the look out for more frequent posts and feel free to follow me on Twitter!  (@pconner71)

H1N...what?!

Well, after having two great weeks...consistent weeks, our household has been hit with the flu!  My poor little girl had it hit her like a freight train on Saturday as we were at a local hotel trying to enjoy the indoor pool to escape the torrential rain in the Atlanta area.  She's on the mend now, but has required all of my attention, so I do apologize for not posting yesterday.  As of yesterday, I had a 2 pound loss for the week, which I am super happy about.  I hope to be able to get in at least a few hours of exercise this week so I won't lose my momentum, we shall see.  I'm trying to fight off something and hope to not get knocked down as I usually do with some sort of sinus thing.  My little bug will return to school tomorrow and I will attempt to clean up all of our arts and crafts supplies...wish me luck!

The Sunshine was Nice While it Lasted

So much for the sunshine!  We're back to being deluged here in the Atlanta area.  At least the waters had a few days to subside a bit.  On a brighter note, I had a fantastic week eating-wise and exercise-wise.  I managed to get in about 7 1/2 hours of training this week and boy do I feel it in my muscles!  How do the people on The Biggest Loser get through it for so many hours per day?  I'm guessing they get cortisone shots!  I'm trying to watch the show to keep me motivated and use some of the tips they suggest as well.  So far so good, week 2 is done and I plan to weigh myself on Monday...here's hoping there's a loss!

Have a great weekend and I hope that the weather where you are is much nicer than it is here.  We may check into the Marriott so Bella can swim in the indoor pool, she's had it with the weather!

Thankfully we have SUNSHINE!

After a ridiculous amount of rain lately, we finally have sun!  So wonderful to see and so grateful that the kids can play outside...we're all going a bit stir crazy these days.  Just wanted to post a quick note about my progress.  I've been doing great with my eating plan, except for a couple of glasses of vino last night.  On the upside I did workout for 3 hours today doing weights, indoor cycling, and elliptical machine.  Since Monday I'm down 2 whole pounds and hope to keep them off for good!  Have a wonderful afternoon and hope to post again tomorrow.  If you're having trouble getting to the gym, just tell yourself you'll go for only 30 minutes then reassess.  I'm able to commit myself to that, which gets my in the door, then I run into friends and zip into classes that keep me there for a minimum of 2 hours, then I figure I've done a good thing that day!  Just give yourself a chance and you just might amaze yourself!  Happy Wednesday to all!

Consider the leaf turned...

So here we are, another rainy, soggy Monday in the Atlanta area, yet somehow my motivation stuck!  I spent last night making a little poster with positive words and sayings on it in addition to pictures of healthy, active women to hang at eye-level on the fridge.  I'm hoping this helps me when I feel weak or challenged, I'm sure that time will come sometime this week!  I am following my eating plan (South Beach) and kicked it in the gym today with a weight-lifting class (Body Pump) and an indoor cycling class (RPM)...so far so good!  Have a wonderful Monday!

Turning Over a New Leaf...AGAIN!

Okay, so I can't even begin to calculate the number of times I've told myself that I'm going to start eating healthy!  Things go well for a few days and I actually make progress, but inevitably, something trips me up or throws me off track and only divine intervention can get me back on track.  Part of the reason I set up this blog was so that I could be accountable for making healthier lifestyle choices...for all the world (or whoever checks out this blog!) to see.  Once again, I've got a plan to eat lean protein and mostly veggies, hoping to lose 60 pounds once and for all.  I don't want my daughter to see me yo-yo the way I have for her entire life thus far, I want her to see a healthy, fit mom with fitness goals and a positive self-image.  The LAST thing I want to pass along to her is a self-deprecating demeanor towards herself.  She's so perfect in every way and I love nothing more than seeing her NOT give a rat's arse about how she looks doing something.  She revels in the things her body can do and the pure enjoyment of doing those things.  These days those "things" are mostly dancing and twirling about from place to place!  So, I too would like to feel joyful for the things my body can do, both now and in the future.  Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for having the ability to work out the way I do and be in good health, I just hope to add a layer of consistency to the whole thing since that's where I typically fall short.

So tomorrow (of course) is a New Day...THE New Day that will mark my taking responsibility of my health and BEING the change I want to see in my life.  I know that I CAN do this, the question is WILL I do this?!  I am the one who got myself to this place, and I am the only one who can carry myself out of this place...who's with me?!  I am woman, hear me roar......meow!

If a little works, why not use A LOT?

Okay, here's just another example of how I seem to get ahead of myself when it comes to trying to live a healthy lifestyle.  My daughter has had sinus allergies for the past three years.  We had her on three different prescription medications to manage her allergy symptoms year-round.  When I decided to try to make the switch to "all-natural" remedies, I abruptly stopped her prescriptions and put her on some herbal formulations with pretty decent success.  That is, until the fall pollen season kicked into high gear!  My poor little girl has been struggling with the herbal remedies with little to no relief.  On a recent trip to Dahlonega to visit a gold mine, we saw a man selling local honey on the side of the road...remembering that local honey could also provide immunotherapy, we jumped at buying a jar and immediately began taking a teaspoon of it thrice daily.  Since then, my daughter's congestion has only gotten more intense and less responsive to even pharmaceuticals!  You'd think with my logical mind and usually dead-on deductive reasoning, I'd have made the connection...my husband later suggested maybe we back off on the honey and see what happens.  Lo and behold, we've done just that and she's getting less congested!  Now I'm the first to admit that I can be a dunce in several instances, but I've made it my life's work to try to keep my family healthy and here I was actually impeding progress!!!!!  Guess we'll have to slowly introduce the honey and monitor her progress, I'm just thankful that my husband made the suggestion since I fear that I may not have made that connection for quite some time if EVER!  Life sure has a way of keeping us humble...
